The holiday home is located next to one of Limburg\u2019s most beautiful hiking areas, namely the \u2018Negenoord\u2019<\/strong> nature reserve. You can walk between the lakes and meadows where Galloway cattle and Konik horses graze.
\nHikes in the picturesque village of Stokkem<\/strong>, along the Meuse towards Oud-Dilsen<\/strong> or in the direction of the ferry and Leut are all moments to be savoured in stunning landscapes of unspoilt nature.
\nElen, district of Dilsen-Stokkem, boasts a hiking area called \u2018De Broeken\u2019<\/strong>, a marshy area with an attractive timber path.
\nFor those who like to walk in the woods, this is possible in the local Dilserbos<\/strong>.
\nWalks in Bergerven<\/strong> are breathtaking because of the beautiful and unique nature reserve on the edge of the Kempen Plateau, featuring no less than 50 ha of pure nature and open waters.
\nAnd last but not least, we are proud of the National Park!
\nOne of the park\u2019s entrance gate \u2018Connecterra\u2019<\/strong> is only a few kilometres away. There, you will be treated to spectacular panoramas of mountains and lakes, as well as peaks. The hiking area has numerous hiking loops that can be explored on your own or in the company of a Ranger.
\nThe \u2018Mechelse Heide\u2019<\/strong> is another nearby gateway with wide vistas, challenging climbs and in August-September, beautiful panoramas of purple flowering heather.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Limburg loves cyclists and cyclists love Limburg!<\/strong>
\nThe holiday home is situated at an access point<\/strong> between junctions 49 and 50 of the cycling network<\/strong>. As we are situated along the Maasdijk<\/strong>, you can start really long cycling tours in flat countryside from here.
\nYou can also use ferries to cycle across borders.
\nWithin the \u2018Rivierpark Maasvallei\u2019<\/strong>, the location forms part of cycling tours along five picturesque Meuse villages.
\nNumerous cycling loops are also possible in the direction of the Kempen, National Park<\/strong> with slightly more inclines in the landscape.
\nSince \u2018Cycling through water\u2019<\/strong> has won gold in the category Architecture-Landscape at one of the leading design contests in Los Angeles, we definitely want to mention this cycling event in Bokrijk<\/strong>. Cycling on a three-metre-wide path with water on both sides at eye level is a particularly unique experience!
\nIn addition, \u2018Cycling through the trees\u2019<\/strong> in Bosland<\/strong> is a spectacular cycling experience in Hechtel-Eksel. Via an iconic circular bridge that climbs gradually, you can cycle right through the treetops.
\nMoreover, mountain bikers<\/strong> are in their element in our region. There are plenty of beautiful mountain bike routes in the immediate vicinity and in the National Park.
\nIn fact, bikes can be rented<\/strong> from Maascentrum de Wissen, which is located next to the house.
\nAlternatively, you can rent bikes, electric bikes, cargo bikes, mountain bikes, etc. from the \u2018Maro\u2019 rental service in Maaseik.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Travel by boat to the nature reserve Kerkeweerd<\/strong> to stroll around among more than 400 species of plants.<\/p>\n

Rivierpark Maasvallei is a fishing paradise. Right next to the house, the Old Meuse<\/strong> and adjacent gravel ponds<\/strong> offer beautiful angling locations.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, anglers can practise their favourite sport on the dikes of the Zuid-Willem Canal<\/strong> or in numerous natural fish and trout ponds<\/strong> in the vicinity.<\/p>\n

Kayaking<\/strong> can be done on the Meuse in an unspoilt nature reserve with kayaks or rafts for two, three or four. The distance varies from 3 to 21 km with different starting and arrival points.<\/p>\n

There is a departure point 10 km from the holiday home.<\/p>\n

Water skiing<\/strong> can be practised in the borough of Lanklaar. The water-ski park is located at the Zuid-Willem Canal.<\/p>\n

Wakeboarding<\/strong> is possible in Dilsen-Stokkem, which boasts Europe\u2019s largest cable park. It is beautifully situated within the \u2018Hoge Kempen\u2019 national park. There is also an inflatable aqua park with obstacles of up to 4 metres high.<\/p>\n

Those who prefer to watch can do so on the beach either from the cosy beach bar or from the restaurant.<\/p>\n

Sailing<\/strong> and many other water sports<\/strong> are possible in the marina \u2018Heerenlaak\u2019 in Maaseik and the marina \u2018de Spaanjerd\u2019 in Ophoven. They are by far the best equipped and most modern marinas in the area.<\/p>\n

Luxurious motor yachts can also be rented for cruises from these locations.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

In Opoeteren, there is an outdoor swimming pool \u2018De Wouterbron\u2019<\/strong> with pure spring water, a sandy beach, a play area and sunbathing lawn.<\/p>\n

The \u2018Wilhelm Tell Water Paradise\u2019<\/strong>, a large outdoor pool with waves, rapids, water slide, a water playground for the little ones and an indoor pool with hot whirlpool, is located in Opglabbeek.<\/p>\n

In Opgrimbie, the \u2018Kikmolen\u2019 (Kik Mill)<\/strong> is located on a 2.7 ha domain. There is a recreational outdoor pool with slides and a large sunbathing lawn, alongside a separate children’s pool and playground.<\/p>\n

In Zutendaal, there is the \u2018t Soete Dal\u2019<\/strong> with outdoor pool, paddling pool and playground.<\/p>\n

Those who like to keep it very natural can opt for \u2018De Steenberg\u2019<\/strong> at the Maasplas in Kinrooi, which is a natural open body of water with a sandy beach.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

After receiving the climbing equipment and necessary instructions, you can set off on a great adventure, alone or under supervision.<\/p>\n

In addition to the climbing forest, activities such as archery, archery tag, laser games, bumper ball and \u2018knotshockey\u2019 (fun variation on the traditional field hockey) are all possible.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

The well-known outlet stores of Maasmechelen Village<\/u> are 6 km away. In fact, the location itself is worth a visit on account of the redevelopment of the former mine buildings in Eisden.<\/p>\n

In Maasmechelen, there is also the covered shopping mall M2, in addition to the mega stores with large clothing brands, known and loved by many famous Flemings …<\/p>\n

At a distance of 20 km, there is a large, completely renovated shopping centre in Genk<\/u>. So shopping fun guaranteed, even in bad weather!<\/p>\n

And then there is Hasselt<\/u>, \u2018the\u2019 fashion city, which should certainly not be overlooked! After all, it is the country\u2019s fourth largest shopping city, \u00a0located about 30 kilometres from the holiday home.<\/p>\n

In the Netherlands, Maastricht<\/u> is undoubtedly the friendliest shopping city just 20 km away.<\/p>\n

Sittard<\/u>, a smaller town is also nearby, certainly by ferry (12 km).<\/p>\n

At 25 km away is Heerlen<\/u>, known for its \u2018residential\u2019 boulevard, with many shops for living and home furnishings, such as Ikea.<\/p>\n

Roermond<\/u>, 30 km away, is very well known for its Designer Outlet.<\/p>\n

In all these Dutch cities, in addition to Sunday shopping, there\u2019s late-night shopping every Thursday or Friday until 9 p.m.<\/p>\n

It is difficult to include everything that might be interesting to visit during your stay in our holiday home.<\/p>\n

The Meuse banks are known for the production of excellent wines. With global warming, the region may yet become the next Burgundy region …<\/p>\n

In the borough of Rotem, for example, there is the vineyard Huize Timmermans<\/strong> with \u2018the Maaslander\u2019, a special wine made from jonagold and grapes. It is a recognised regional product, labelled under the name \u2018Limburg cider with grapes\u2019; thus tradition, purity and quality are guaranteed.<\/p>\n

Recently, a new winegrower, \u2018Thilesna\u2019<\/strong>, established a few kilometres from the holiday home. From the outset, the owners immediately managed to win a silver medal in the selection of the best Belgian wines.<\/p>\n

And last but not least, there are the top wines of the \u2018Aldeneyck\u2019 estate<\/strong>, located in Maaseik-Aldeneik. These wines have been awarded numerous gold and silver medals every year as best Belgian wines.<\/p>\n

Group visits to these three wineries can be organised.<\/p>\n

In a borough of Rotem, there is a care farm \u2018Ommersteyn\u2019<\/strong> that employs people with disabilities. Why not visit the organic goat farm, with more than 500 goats, or buy their home-made products, such as cheeses, honey, apple juice and seasonal products.<\/p>\n

In July and August, the \u2018smokkelmarkt\u2019<\/strong> (smugglers\u2019 market) is held in Stokkem every Sunday morning, featuring a lot of stands that sell regional products, lot of snacky treats and fun entertainment on the side.<\/p>\n

These are just a few things to do at the \u2018C\u00f4t\u00e9 Meuse\u2019.<\/p>\n

There are also many organised cycling events, hikes, and much more.<\/p>\n
